About NYOO and the person behind it
Small tools, useful context
NYOO is an independent English-language guide to Chinese calendar conversion, zodiac conventions and seasonal travel ideas for China. It combines private browser-based tools with short, source-linked explanations. This site is a free public beta while its features and explanations continue to be reviewed and improved.
Why this approach
Xin’s professional background shapes NYOO’s working method: separate calculation from interpretation, link claims to inspectable sources, test difficult date boundaries, and state clearly when a feature or source is not ready. It is not presented as authority in folklore; cultural claims still need appropriate sources and context.
How this site is made
Development is coordinated with an AI coding assistant, with locally running language models contributing drafts, test outlines and English copy. Every generated draft is reviewed by a person before it appears here. Date results come from deterministic code and reference checks, not language-model predictions.
What is not available
There are no paid orders, advertising, user accounts, live weather feeds, free-text dream interpretations, or verified auspicious-day recommendations. We will not replace those missing features with invented results.
Quick answers
How are leap months handled?
Choose the lunar year first. The converter then lists its months, with a separate leap-month option when one exists. A date that does not exist is rejected instead of silently moving to another month.
When does the zodiac year change here?
This tool uses Chinese New Year, not January 1 or Li Chun. Enter the complete Gregorian birth date so that birthdays near the year boundary are handled according to that stated convention.
Are my dates or sentences saved or tracked?
The application calculates in browser memory and does not send date or sentence inputs to an application server or analytics service. Cloudflare records aggregate visits and may count named interactions without form contents. A shared reflection link contains only a public result key after #, never your sentence. There is no account or browser-storage feature. A downloaded calendar file does contain the date you chose.
Does a downloaded birthday repeat every year?
No. The .ics download represents one all-day event on one Gregorian date. To follow a lunar birthday, convert each target lunar year separately. Check the date after importing it into your calendar application.
Are travel suggestions a weather forecast?
No. The travel section combines sourced seasonal ideas with calendar context. It does not have live weather, event availability, ticket prices, or guaranteed blossom dates. Check current conditions and official opening information before booking.
Can I select an auspicious day?
Not on NYOO. Traditional date-selection rules still need source and translation review. Seasonal travel ideas are not auspicious-day ratings, and no date should be described as a guarantee of safety or good weather.
