Chinese New Year and Li Chun

Two boundaries can explain two different answers.

Source-linked guide · Updated 28 September 2026

Chinese New Year is the first day of the first lunar month. Li Chun, translated here as Start of Spring, is a solar term. They are not the same event and need not occur on the same date.

NYOO uses Chinese New Year for its year-animal calculation. It does not provide a Li Chun-based birth chart or calculate a birth-time boundary. If another service uses a different convention, a different animal near the beginning of the year is not necessarily a transcription error.

Before comparing results, ask which boundary each service uses. A claim of exact birth-chart precision also requires inputs and rules beyond a birth date alone. NYOO makes the simpler calendar convention visible and does not offer compatibility percentages or fate scores.
